Frequently Asked Questions

What is Optical?

Optical is a secure, government-ready headless CMS that separates content management from content delivery. It gives agencies the flexibility to design their own user experience while managing content centrally and publishing it anywhere — websites, apps, or digital services.

What is Temus' role in my CMS migration journey?

Temus leads the end-to-end strategy, planning, and execution of CMS migration projects, partnering with public sector agencies—such as Workforce Singapore (WSG)—to transition from legacy systems (like Sitefinity and Sitecore on CWP 2.0) to the modern Optical Headless CMS.

Specifically, Temus:

1. Manages the Project

  • Oversees migration planning and execution within tight timelines (e.g., 30 days).

  • Coordinates across agency teams, engineering squads, and GovTech to ensure alignment.

2. Designs Content Models and Migrates Data

  • Defines the content structure and taxonomy within Optical CMS with stakeholders

  • Uses AI tools to extract, transform, and bulk-upload content and assets.

  • Ensures accurate mapping between legacy systems and Optical’s content blocks.

3. Rebuilds the Frontend

  • Re-develops the site frontend using Next.js/React.js, integrated with Optical’s REST and GraphQL APIs.

  • Preserves legacy URL structures to maintain SEO value.

4. Enables Custom Features

  • Recreates personalized features, tagging, and multi-step approval workflows.

  • Optimizes the CMS setup for omni-channel delivery (web, mobile, kiosks, chatbots, IoT).

5. Implements Secure DevOps

  • Uses SHIP-HATS to automate deployment and apply industry-standard security practices.

  • Ensures IM8 compliance and stable CI/CD pipelines.

6. Conducts AI-Powered Testing

  • Applies Gen AI (e.g., OpenAI-4O) to verify migrated content, media, and formatting.

  • Automates comparison between old and new sites to ensure quality and consistency.

Why should I migrate to Optical?

Optical CMS is a modern, headless content management system developed by GovTech. It supports faster performance, better scalability, IM8 compliance, and easier omni-channel delivery. We're migrating to reduce costs, improve agility, and future-proof our digital platforms.

How does Optical CMS differ from Sitefinity or Sitecore?

Unlike traditional monolithic CMS platforms, Optical is API-first and decoupled—allowing content to be delivered across multiple channels via REST and GraphQL. It also supports faster frontend performance, easier maintenance, and lower total cost of ownership. Join our showcase to learn more!

What types of content and data can be migrated?

We migrate structured content, images, PDFs, videos, metadata, SEO URLs, user roles, and approval workflows. The goal is to replicate functionality while improving flexibility and performance.

The website’s core design, user permissions, approval processes, and most URLs can remain intact to ensure business continuity and consistent user experience.

Temus can use Gen AI tools to compare old and new pages, validate media and document integrity, and automate testing. This ensures content accuracy and design consistency at scale.

How long does a typical migration take?

Timelines vary depending on content volume, complexity, and custom features. It could take as little as a couple of weeks!
